Tips & Tricks from Real Parents
The cagou bird enclosure opens at 10 AM. Time your visit to see feeding time when the birds are most active.
Bring bug spray. The forest has mosquitoes even during the dry season — especially near the stream crossings.
Pack a picnic. The park has lovely shaded tables and the nearest restaurant is a 15-minute walk back downhill.
The main loop trail takes about 45 minutes at toddler pace. Perfect for burning off energy before a car ride.
Park at the bottom entrance — the upper entrance has very limited parking and the walk from the bottom is stroller-friendly.

A Real Parent's Story
We chased a cagou and learned patience
“My son wanted to 'catch a dinosaur bird.' We spent 30 minutes following a cagou through the forest. We never caught it. But we saw it three feet away. Best day ever.”

The paths wind through beautiful old forest, the birds do their thing, and you wander at your own pace. My son was obsessed with finding the cagou — this prehistoric-looking bird. When we finally spotted one, he went completely silent, utterly transfixed. It was a moment.
