Tips & Tricks from Real Parents
Book a private vehicle with pop-up roof ($80-120 for 4 hours) -- way better than a crowded tour bus.
Go at 6:30 AM when gates open. Lions are most active at dawn and the light is spectacular.
Bring binoculars. Cheap ones for each kid turn the drive into a treasure hunt.
Pack a picnic breakfast. The hippo pools have designated safe picnic spots.
The park is small but the rhino sanctuary is the absolute highlight -- we saw 7 in one morning.

A Real Parent's Story
Five lions crossing the road in front of our car
“A pride of five lions walked across the road 10 meters in front of us. My 6-year-old whispered 'they're like giant cats.' My 8-year-old was speechless. Nairobi National Park is surreal.”

We were nervous about safety but the park is well-managed. Armed rangers patrol constantly. Within 20 minutes we saw zebras, giraffes, and then the lions. The rhino sanctuary is remarkable -- we saw 7 white rhinos including a baby. The Nairobi skyline in the background creates photos that look photoshopped.
