A Real Parent's Story
He shared his ice cream with a chimpanzee
“Our 5-year-old was eating ice cream near the ape enclosure. A young chimp signed 'please'. Our son broke off a piece and held it against the glass.”

The great ape pavilion is the highlight of Moscow Zoo. The viewing is incredibly close. Our son was eating ice cream when a young chimpanzee approached the glass and started signing. A keeper told us 'please' is one of the signs they have learned. Our son broke off a piece and held it against the glass. The chimp sat down and mimed eating with him. They 'shared' ice cream for five minutes. It was the most beautiful interspecies moment I have ever witnessed.
