A Real Parent's Story

The snow leopard cubs melted every heart

Two snow leopard cubs were tumbling over each other in their enclosure. Our kids pressed their noses to the glass for 30 minutes. We almost missed lunch.

Almaty Zoo had snow leopard cubs - something I didn't know when we visited. They were about 4 months old and incredibly playful. Our kids watched them chase each other, pounce on toys, and tumble down small slopes. It was better than any TV nature documentary. The rest of the zoo is standard but well-maintained. The mountain views alone are worth the entry price.
