A Real Parent's Story
Cuban crocodiles up close
“The Cuban crocodile enclosure was basic but the crocs were enormous and active. One swam right up to the glass and my 5-year-old came face-to-face with a 10-foot predator. She asked if it could eat the cat.”

I wanted my daughter to see Cuban crocodiles — they are only found in the Zapata Swamp and this zoo. The conditions are not fancy but the animals seem well-cared for and the keepers clearly love them. The keeper let my daughter help toss food to the crocodiles. She still talks about feeding a crocodile.
