Why Families Love Gdańsk Zoo
A spacious forest zoo set in the Tricity Landscape Park, home to over 1,000 animals including elephants, giraffes, and a well-known pair of Sumatran tigers. Wide natural enclosures, a children’s zoo with domestic animals, and a mini train that winds through the forest make this a family favorite.

Tips & Tricks from Real Parents
The mini train costs 5 PLN extra per person but is absolutely worth it — it takes you through the forest section where you see animals from a different angle.
Elephant feeding happens at 11 AM and 2 PM — get there 15 min early for a good spot.
The zoo is hilly. Rent a stroller or wagon at the entrance for 10 PLN — your legs will thank you.
Pack your own food. The cafe is mediocre and the picnic areas under the pine trees are gorgeous.
The newly renovated seal pool has underwater viewing — your kids can watch seals swim right past their faces.

A Real Parent's Story
The train ride made the whole trip
“Our 3-year-old was tired after 20 minutes of walking. The mini train saved us. He sat on my lap, pointing at deer and bison through the trees, completely mesmerized for the full 30-minute ride.”

Gdańsk Zoo surprised me. It’s not trying to compete with the mega-zoos of the world — it’s a forest with animal enclosures woven in. The bison enclosure is huge and natural. The elephant house is modern. But the star is the setting — old pine forest, birds singing, shaded paths. We spent 4 hours and barely covered half the park.
