Tips & Tricks from Real Parents
Arrive by 7:30am. Pandas sleep 14 hours a day and are only active in the cool morning. By 10am they are mostly napping.
The Panda Kitchen experience lets you prepare panda cakes for 300 yuan and must be prebooked. Kids 6 and up can participate.
Visit the Red Panda area around 9am when they are fed. They are far more active than the giant pandas.
Bring binoculars as the babies are often up in tree branches and hard to see from the path.

A Real Parent's Story
We watched a panda give birth on the live cam
“The live cam caught a birth and my daughter sobbed happy tears for 20 minutes.”
I expected to see pandas sleeping. What I did not expect was to walk into the nursery exhibit and see a giant screen showing a live birth. A panda named Ya Ya was delivering a cub. My 8-year-old was mesmerized. We stood there for 40 minutes. The keepers were narrating in Mandarin but honestly we did not need translation. When the cub finally emerged the whole room cheered. My daughter cried. I cried too.
