Tips & Tricks from Real Parents

1

Buy tickets online for a 15% discount and skip the ticket queue. The walk-up line can be 30+ minutes on weekends.

2

Visit at 4 PM and stay until sunset. You get daylight views AND the city lights coming on — one ticket, two experiences.

3

The glass floor section near the elevator is the least crowded. Most people crowd the windows, leaving the glass floor mostly empty for photos.

4

If your kid is scared of heights, start at the main deck (186m) before going to the Sky Deck (220m). The upper deck feels more exposed.

5

The SkyJump ($145) is for ages 10+ only. Don't promise it to younger kids — they can't do it and the meltdown is real.

A Real Parent's Story

My 8-year-old did the SkyJump and I was more scared than her

She stepped off a 192-metre building voluntarily. I was shaking. She was laughing. The GoPro footage is her screaming 'THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER' all the way down. I've never been prouder.

We came to Auckland for a long weekend. My daughter saw the SkyJump from the harbour and decided on the spot she was doing it. I thought she'd chicken out. Nope. She strapped in, high-fived the crew, and jumped without hesitation. I watched from the observation deck and my heart stopped for 3 seconds until I saw the parachute deploy. She landed and immediately asked to go again. Best $145 I ever spent.
