Tips & Tricks from Real Parents

1

Buy the Animal Feed Bucket at the entrance ($5). It includes food for giraffes, goats, camels, and parrots -- the single best investment for keeping kids engaged for hours.

2

The giraffe feeding platform is the highlight. Get there by 10:30 AM when the giraffes are still hungry and active.

3

The zoo is outside the city. Combine with a trip to Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque on your way back as they are on the same road.

4

Bring sunscreen and hats. The zoo is mostly outdoor and the Abu Dhabi sun is relentless even in winter.

5

The Zoo Resort attached to the park lets you stay overnight. The safari room package is worth it -- giraffes walk past your window in the morning.

A Real Parent's Story

A giraffe licked my daughter's hand and she lost her mind with joy

She nervously held out a piece of hay. The giraffe's tongue wrapped around it and her fingers. She shrieked, laughed, and fed it five more pieces. Best $5 ever spent.

Emirates Park Zoo is not as slick as the Dubai attractions and that is exactly why it is better. It feels like a real zoo not a theme park with animals. The white lions are stunning. The petting zoo has goats sheep and rabbits that are clearly well-cared-for.
